2) Show your commitment with an earnest money deposit. 

Next up, it's time to put your money where your mouth is, quite literally. You'll have to submit an Earnest Money Deposit, or EMD - a gesture of good faith to demonstrate your serious intention to buy the property.

3) Meet face-to-face with local lenders. 

The clock's ticking, and it's time to get serious about securing financing for your new home. Find a lender willing to work for you and pull together all the necessary financial data and documentation in order to complete the number-crunching marathon.

4) Do your due diligence.

Remember, it's your responsibility to understand everything about the property, the neighborhood, the HOA, and anything else that could impact your experience of living there —before you sign on the dotted line.
